RONNA is a robotic neuronavigation system which assists in brain surgery, with the precision of one tenth of a millimetre. The innovation project was developed for seven whole years. It was developed by experts from the Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, led by Bojan Jerbić, a professor of robotics. In this project, they cooperated with the Dubrava Clinical Hospital Centre and the Croatian Institute for Brain Research. Thanks to the RONNA robot, surgery is performed faster and at a higher quality level, whereas the procedures are less invasive, which results in faster patient recovery. This month, the first operation assisted by the RONNA robot was performed in the Dubrava Clinical Hospital Centre. This was the first neurosurgical procedure in this part of Europe assisted by a robotic system which is an entirely Croatian product.
