Electrical engineering students from Osijek have designed the so-called smart plug. The U:plug is a classic plug which has two USB ports and thus may be used for charging smartphones, MP3 players and tablets without a charger. The U:plug plug differs from similar innovations in that it recognises the device being charged and adapts to it. The patent was recognised by numerous foreign companies which have already ordered several tens of thousands U:plug plugs. Hotels and catering facilities, whose guests often forget their chargers, are very interested in the students’ product.
